Leaders shape discussions and decisions – because their appearance and behavior quickly makes it clear: This woman, this man has the say. These features characterize the alpha wolves.
HE IS CONFIDENT
For almost all official and informal leaders, they know what they are capable of, what they are willing and able to do, and what they have done in the past. They are proud of that – they act accordingly self-confidently. This is also evident in their body language: for example, in their upright posture, their gripping handshake and in the fact that they look confidently into the eyes of conversation partners.
HE SPEAKS A CLEAR AND POWERFUL LANGUAGE
Charismatic leaders are extremely performance and results-oriented. They do not talk in box sets about the bush but prefer short, crisp sentences with a clear message. They do not say “you could …” but “we should …” or, “I will …” And their statements are not peppered with relativizing adverbs such as “actually”, “maybe” “possibly”, as with detractors.
HE CAN MOTIVATE HIMSELF
Leaders want to make a difference. And they have goals. Accordingly, they have a lot of energy and radiate it. And if, like every human being, they have a bad day? Then, when it comes down to it, they give a jolt and motivate themselves for the upcoming tasks. So they influence their mood and thus charisma positively.
HE TAKES A POSITION AND DOES NOT HIDE
Alpha wolves do not go to diving stations when things get hot – they analyze the situation in order to position themselves at the right time. Because they know: Especially in these moments leadership is in demand; then it is particularly necessary to give the employees or colleagues orientation and attitude. Accordingly, their language is clear and pointed in such situations: they do not flee into subjunctive statements such as: “We could consider …”. Instead, for example, they say, “From my perspective, we have two choices: Either we … or we …” or “I argue that we … because of…”.
At the same time, they accept to encounter contradiction – which, however, seldom happens. Because usually, the others are happy that finally someone takes the lead and pushes the decision.
HE IS FOCUSED AND WELL PREPARED
Leaders do not rush headlong into danger. On the contrary! They analyze the situation & weigh the pros and cons. Only then do they move into position. As a rule, their statements on why others like to follow them are well-founded and substantiated. They only go in unprepared for meetings or even negotiations in absolute emergencies. Rather, they ask themselves in advance: What is the topic? What are the options? What speaks for it and what against it? And what is my position?
HE WANTS TO LEAD OTHER PEOPLE
True leaders, when communicating with other people on the job, always have the overall goal in mind. And because they are well prepared, they can focus their attention on it: What does my counterpart say? What needs does he articulate? Which signals does he send out?
Accordingly, they sensitively perceive moods and can, therefore, formulate their statements in such a way that others trust them and like to be guided by them. They can also motivate other people as needed – for example, by letting them dream of how nice it would be if the overall goal were achieved. “Imagine, our profit would double. Then … “. Or: “Imagine if we put this new product on the market. Then … “.
HE USES THE BODY-LANGUAGE AS AN INSTRUMENT
Leaders know that reaching your goal often depends on how you say something. They choose their words accordingly – depending on their counterparts and the conversation situation. They also use their body language deliberately: be it to signal attention or approval.
HE BRINGS THINGS TO THE POINT
Leaders want to make a difference. That is why they become anxious when they feel that things are being talked down here. Then they take the initiative and say, “Well, I followed the discussion. From my point of view, we have three options: 1. … 2. … 3. … speaks for 1 … speaks against it … speaks for 2 … speaks against … Therefore, I propose: Realize possibility 3. Because it has the following advantages: … ”
HE MARKS HIS TERRITORY
Leaders know what they want – and what they do not want. Accordingly, they clearly express it when potential decisions “go against the grain”. And since they are usually well prepared, their argument is usually difficult to refute. The people who regularly deal with them know that too. That’s why they often ask themselves beforehand in decision-making situations: “What does the person say?” So they already include the position of the leaders in their plans. This is another reason why alpha personalities have a very strong standing in their companies.
Great leaders do not shy away from assuming responsibility even when a decision or task is risky. To summarize, A true leader is a person who makes efforts to improve himself day by day and improve everything around him.
